The port number is a user assigned number that will be attached to the given port for internal purposes. This number must be unique for each port. Start by assigning a number that has not been used yet; type its name in the port name field and the name of the country where the port is located.
The port code and country code fields should be filled in from the appropriate U.S. Customs tables. These fields are very important for the Customs Automated Manifest System In the abbreviation field type the short name for the port being created, in many cases this abbreviation is used in the generation of bills of lading numbers.
Enter the default weight and measure units to be associated with this port. If the ratings for this port are to be the
same as those of a port that has already been defined, you can enter the number
for that port next to the rate as field.
If this is not the case, enter the same port number as the one being entered,
which means that you have to enter the rating defaults for this new port. The thru
port number would be the number of the actual load port for the port you
are creating. I.E. If you are creating ‘B/L’ port such as
